Doing the Right Thing

Once again, Nifong leaves us with our heads shaking. The Gift That Keeps On Giving (or Taking, depending on one's point of view).

Mikey, "doing right thing" means, above all, TELLING THE TRUTH. That is something that this narcissistic jackass simply cannot and will not do.

That is funny!!!!!

He can't handle the TRUTH. That requires having a conscience.

Nifong won't get any help, but Mangum already has. Rev. Jackson has offered to pay her college tuition so that she'll never again "have to sink so low just to survive."

The next time she frames an innocent men on rape charges, or murders her kids, or does a fetus snatching, or whatever it is she plans for an encore, she'll probably get a movie deal and a Ferrari.

The news today Monday stated he had requested the AG to reconsider his request?

What planet does this moron come from ?

He comes from the planet where prosecutors pursue frivolous cases all the time, and he's the only one of them in America who's being held accountable. Look at it from his point of view: if everybody in your town was robbing a bank and you were the only one who got caught and was punished, wouldn't you consider that unfair?

Anonymous said...

unfair? no. I still know that robbing banks is illegal and immoral.

unlucky might be a better choice.

and there is the chance that more will be caught. then Mikey can consider himself a "trend-setter" if we are all lucky!

Entirely possible. It all depends on how much attention the media wants to focus on the problem.

Lovely, so our justice system depends on media exposure? God help us!

How can you be so cynical? Of course our system doesn't rely on media exposure.

It relies on money, too.

I think Nifong committed multiple crimes while prosecuting the case.

That being said, this issue of indemnification comes up quite often in situations where a former member of an organization wants legal fees. It ususally turns on state law and the organization's by-laws.

Most states provide that organizations (especially public ones) cannot indemnify a member/employee for criminal or "willful" conduct. But it's often the case that we won't know how to describe the employee's conduct. So, many states provide that if the employee signs an undertaking to repay the fees if there is a finding of criminality or egregious bad conduct, then the organization must reimburse for legal fees.

Does anyone know what North Carolina's statutes say about that? Also, here we already have a finding of criminal contempt against Nifong. That may be grounds for the public organization to refuse to pay all or some legal fees under the statute.

I meant to say, "But it's often the case that we won't know how to describe the employee's conduct until after the matter is over, and hence the organization doesn't know upfront whether the indeminfication is required or forbidden."

Dr Manly did the physical exam and collected the speciments for the SBI lab to test for DNA. Levicy did the QA Checklist.

Maybe Wendy Murphy will offer to defeng Mike Nifong pro bono.

Wendy has been spouting off that the State of North Carolina will not release the case file, that the lacrosse players' defense attorneys have been concealing thousands of pages of evidence from the public. Well, this is her chance to get all that evidence out into the open.

I hope she does defend him. That way he's guaranteed to lose.

LS - As Thanksgiving is approaching - please reprint the turkey in the Witness Box cartoon. That is one of the funniest, I have ever read.
Nifong needs to defend himself - no one he could hire can talk as fast or as confusing as him.
