Dear Duke Police...

Duke Profs Receive Racist E-Mail After Lacrosse Case

Durham — Duke University police are investigating death threats against professors who questioned racial attitudes on campus a year ago, shortly after a black woman accused three white Duke lacrosse players of sexually assaulting her.
Dear Duke Police,

We read the above article concerning allegations of e-mail threats to the Duke 88. We hope you are investigating this matter thoroughly. The sending of hateful e-mails is strongly opposed by our blog and other blogs who supported the innocent Duke Lacrosse Team. No one should ever receive physical threats.

As you know, Reade Seligmann received death threats while walking into the Durham County Courthouse. Those were recorded on national TV. Do you know if those who were shown making those threatening remarks were ever questioned by the Durham PD or Sheriff's Department? During the first weeks of the Hoax, some lacrosse players mentioned they were threatened on campus. Duke lacrosse coach Mike Pressler also received death threats generated by this Hoax. Did you ever investigate the threats to Coach Pressler and the lacrosse team?

Enclosed is a picture of a physical threat to castrate the inhabitants at 610 N. Buchanan. It occurred between 9:00 am & 10:00 am on Sunday, March 26, 2006. Those inhabitants were members of the Duke University student body. The angry protesters were chanting loud demands that the members of the house get out of town. The physical threat was undeniable.

As you can see, it was a rather large sign that required two protestors to carry it. Have you investigated this obvious threat, considering it is about 2 ft high X 10 ft long with Capital Letters "CASTRATE"?

Also, I do want to let you know that news crews from WRAL-TV were there at the site interviewing the protesters. Since they wrote the article, maybe they can show you the video they shot to help you identify the threateners.

PS: Your police were there too! Here is a picture of one of Durham's patrol cars (#500), and it appears the officer is talking with two Duke police officers ... one uniform and one Duke police badge are visible, with another Durham PD officer standing by.

If you need help in identifying who was there, I am sure the Duke 88 will be happy to name their graduate students who actively participated.

Yours truly,

Baldo
and Your Friends at LieStoppers

Baldo, you are the best. Thanks for helping to point Durham and Duke PD in the right direction. I'm sure they will get right on it! sic semper tyrannis

Did not the 88 praise in print the "castrate" crowd? Is that not encouraging or even inciting threatening behavior?

Let's not forget the threats offered in the "Campus Echo" piece.
Considering that state and federal funds are used to produce the paper, We should probably call the F.B.I. into the investigation of threats issued in this matter.

You're making an unwarranted assumption that Durham has officials who can read.

Is duke university on alert due to the article published in the NCCU campus echo newspaper.

Carolyn says:

There are no death threats. If there were, the Gang would let us see them. Because the Gang refuses to let us see them, it proves the threats don't exist.

There are no death threats.

Strange how the Duke 88 have been silent since the three players were declared Innocent by AG Cooper?

Their only action has been to complain somebody is sending them nasty mail?

They are pathetic and the one good aspect of the Hoax they have shown themselves to be intellectual hypocrites.

PS Did the Duke 88 help with the protests? Ask their graduate students. Those are the ones who mostly complained in the media of insitutionized racism. Sure seems Professor Neal has close contacts with them all?

I don't know that not publishing is "proof" they did not get any, but if it was true, why are we not seeing them?

much like all the "evidence" losers like justice68 were telling us Liefong had.. I will believe that these professors received death threats when I see them!!

What a witty, wry post! It captures so well the double-standard that still persists...

Thanks!

you all are so ridiculous. I work at duke and they are showing the emails to their collegues and they also have the security system to check the location of those sending it and these threats are being investigated. Some of you on here need to get a lawyer as many of you are the ones sending the threats to the professors, especially Carla Holloway

Dear "Some of you on here need to get a lawyer as many of you are the ones sending the threats to the professors, especially Carla Holloway"

On with the civil lawsuits. Have fun at Truthtelling Day!

6:28 p.m., I will believe it when I see it, and even then, I'll still have significant doubts given the demonstrated lack of integrity of those pressing the charges. As for me, I don't wish the Gang of 88 any physical harm at all. For one, I tend to be more of a pacifist, but for another, I recognize that sometimes the cruelest thing you can do to somebody is just let them live. So I want them to live long, healthy lives. I want them to live long enough to see the careers they built on petty demagoguery crash around them. I want them to live long enough to see their tenure evaporate like a light fog shortly after dawn on a dry summer morning. I want to see each and every one of them sued into the stone age. And I want to see each and every one of them so disgraced that they won't even be able to find a job teaching at a community college at the ass-end of nowhere. May they all live at least 10,000 more days, and may each of those days bring a new agony, not of the body, but of what passes for their soul.

6:28..... exactly why are they showing them to everyone at Duke, but not to the police? I have to agree with majority here.... when dealing with the "facts" in Durham, seeing is believing.
