Houston, you have a problem!

Over a year ago KC Johnson related an exchange of e-mails between a mother of one unindicted lacrosse players and Prof Houston Baker. DIW

Professor Houston Baker, the most vocal of Duke's Professors against the Lacrosse Team, had this reply to a request for help from her.

LIES! You are just a provacateur on a happy New Years Eve trying to get credit for a scummy bunch of white males! You know you are in search of sympaathy [sic] for young white guys who beat up a gay man [sic] in Georgetown, get drunk in Durham, and lived like “a bunch of farm animals” near campus.

I really hope whoever sent this stupid farce of an email rots in .... umhappy [sic] new year to you ... and forgive me if your really are, quite sadly, mother of a “farm animal.”

Professor Baker... The "Farm Animals" have had enough!

Professor Kim Curtis & husband leaving Duke

Helpful Duke Students point out the exit door to Prof Kim Curtis

The Duke Students for an Ethical Duke Blog is reporting that two of the infamous 88 Duke Professors are leaving Duke University for Northern Arizona University.
We have learned that Curtis and her husband Romand "Rom" Coles, both members of the Group of 88 and signers of both the listening ad and the clarification letter, are in the final paperwork stages of accepting employment from Northern Arizona University. Rom Coles has been a candidate for the McAllister Chair at NAU, and it seems that he has accepted the position (or obtained a different one). DSED

It will just get uglier and uglier and uglier

Stuart Taylor, co-author of Until Proven Innocent, was greeted warmly last night at Duke University during a book signing which was followed by a speaking appearance. The event sponsored by Duke Students for an Ethical Duke was the second in a series presenting the co-authors of UPI. In September Professor KC Johnson spoke candidly about the conditions in the Durham & Duke community which promoted the rush to prejudge the Lacrosse team over the false accusations of a mentally disturbed women. See LieStoppers article.

During his presentation Stuart Taylor was equally critical of the Duke Faculty and community.

"The picture of what you can paint of what these people did here is even darker than what we portrayed in this book," he said. "As it unravels, I believe it will just get uglier and uglier and uglier."

He was particularly harsh toward Duke professors, saying they were so far beyond the left of political spectrum that they sometimes behaved as "Stalinists" and "Fascists."

"There was such malice, malevolence and hatred that erupted from some of the Duke faculty against the lacrosse players," he said. "But there wasn't any medical evidence of rape. It was a fraud." Durham Herald-Sun

Who's Sorry Now?

Who's Sorry Now?

Brodhead says he's sorry
When put to the test
His instincts were pathetic
And he bungled the rest.

Starn says he's sorry
Brodhead spoke of regret
They're all victims of bloggers.
(Vicious Hooligan set.)

While Holsti is sorry
The team mothers gave birth
And I am just sorry
Duke hires these jerks.

He Didn't Really Just Say That, Did He?

"The Group of 88 are a group of professors who signed a petition to assist students who felt threatened."
