Introducing: Page Two by LieStoppers

Dear readers,

Early yesterday morning, LS Forum member Aloha became our 2 millionth visitor.

Looking back to our beginning on July 29, 2006, we launched this site in response to Durham County Commissioner Lewis Cheek’s decision not to run against District Attorney Mike Nifong. The wind his announcement took from the sails of the many who saw hope in his proposed candidacy led us to seek an alternate way to help end this travesty by publicly separating fact from fiction. Professionally, politically, geographically, religiously, racially, and any other "-ally" one could think of, we shared little in common when our efforts began. As a group, we came together with a sole common denominator - outrage at the injustice of the Hoax and those who enabled it.

Not knowing what to expect, we were, and perhaps continue to be, accidental bloggers simply hoping to make a difference by putting our voices together. Certainly we did not expect that less than nine months later we would be hosting our 2 millionth visitor. We can’t say that we imagined the Hoax would endure this long either. Of all that we did not expect, the most pleasant surprise has been the overwhelming outpouring of support, encouragement, and assistance for what began as a casual endeavor by a small group of private individuals. Our original small band is now aided in our daily mission by a small army of several hundred Blog Hooligans, whose tireless efforts and boundless enthusiasm at the LS Forum have proven to be the perfect complement and continuation of what started on this main page.

With all of this in mind, we have again expanded our efforts and site. Today marks the debut of Page Two by LieStoppers, a supplement to the original LieStoppers Blog and the attached LS Forum. Our intention is that Page Two by LieStoppers will focus on similar instances of Nifonging outside of the Hoax. Meanwhile, the main page will remain focused exclusively on the Nifong/Mangum Hoax until all charges are dismissed; Defendant Nifong’s trial before the State Bar’s Disciplinary Hearing is concluded; Beth Brewer’s 7A-66 affidavit is acted upon; any further investigation of Nifong’s misconduct is initiated;, completed and prosecuted by State and/or Federal authorities; and any resulting civil litigation is commenced and decided.

As always, thank you for reading and for adding your voice to ours.
