A Christmas Message from the Seligmann Family

Dearest Blog Hooligans,

We want to wish you all the merriest Christmas. You've all worked so hard for something so important--truth and justice! Our gratitude is endless for the energy you have spent on Reade, Colin, and Dave's behalf. You are an amazing group of people and your words have brought us hope, strength, and comfort. Even in our darkest hour we took great solace in the knowledge that you were all out there helping us in this fight.

If there is anything that we have learned through this nightmare it's that you never know what life is going to throw your way and therefore to never take anything for granted. So today, kiss your spouse a little longer, and let them know your couldn't imagine life without them. Call your parents and thank them for always being there through all the bumps in the road. Most importantly, hug your kids extra tight and tell them what an honor it is to be their parent. So dear friends, we thank you, we appreciate you and we will never forget you! Wishing you all a New Year filled with good health, great love and true peace.

All Our Love,
The Seligmann Family

Dear Seligmann family,
Thank you for your kind words of support for we the hooliganest of hooligans. But know that anything we may have done pales in comparison to the courage, dignity, grace, and honor that you all, along with the Finnerty family and the Evans family, have shown throughout this entire horrific ordeal that was cast upon you undeservedly at the hands of evil people, and good people who stood idly by and did nothing while evil ran amok. You all have been, and continue to be an incredible inspiration to us!

So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, and may the rest of your days be filled with peace.

And a wonderful holiday season to you and all the families who experienced this baptism by fire.

Special hello and best wishes also this year to your young sons - the twins - who we talk around but don't have the time to talk about until now.

And, all the grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who all must have stories to tell.

As proof that the notoriety is not nearly as intense as you guys may think, the name of your hometown is misspelled next to Reade's picture on the Brown lacrosse roster. That must be the signal that the world is getting back to normal where the Seligmann's will be known for who they are rather than what they experienced in the past.

Merry Christmas to you, and thank you for being an inspiration.

I will accept the Seligmann's thanks for my support if they will accept my thanks for their giving me the wonderful chance to support a family of such incredible courage and integrity.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and God bless.

The declaration on innocence for the Duke Three was one of the best things that happened in 2007. Two of the others were the reversing the conviction of Steven Truscott and the pardon of Richard Paey. A great event in 2008 would be the release of the West Memphis Three.

Anonymous said...

That would be great.

Your family, and the other two as well, have conducted yourselves with amazing grace and class throughout this whole affair. I consider it to be a public service that you remain determined to see the civil suits to completion.

Dear Reade (and the entire Seligmann Family)-

As an American and as a Jew committed to social justice for all, I am so please that truth and justice has prevailed for you (and Dave and Collin). The poise and aplomb with which you and the other two Duke 3 (and, indeed all 47 Laxers) throughout this horrific ordeal have been examples is to be commended. While being in the public eye may not have been in your plans 22 months ago, I hope that occasionally, we will be able to see how you (and Dave and Collin) have grown and progressed as people (and, in your case, as an attorney) over the coming years because of this experience.

Greetings of the season to you all.

If they was poor, they would be in jail. What has changed? The same corrupt jerks run the city like there own playground, what a joke. How about the drugs and hookers, and rotten cops. How about the poor people who dont have money for lawyers do you care about any thing else?

Anonymous said...

"How about the poor people who dont have money for lawyers do you care about any thing else?"

Wow, you're a dickweed. If you lived in the 1940s you'd probably sneer at someone for only escaping the concentration camp at Dachau, rather than liberating it.

Anonymous said...

Character is what you do when no one will know.

Something for a certain individual to reflect upon and for the remainder of us to judge.

Justice will be served upon all those who have abused of our trust.

Anonymous said...

Isn't that exactly what Reade said in the press conference? What about those that don't have resources to fight? I suggest that Reade is one of the best friends that those that seek justice for all should embrace.

The Seligmanns are one classy family and I wish to thank them for raising such a son. Whatever he does in his future I am sure it will be good.

Anonymous said...

Huge difference between concentration camps, don't be absurd. What choice did they have but to fight, give me a break, they are not patron saints. They may not have raped the hooker, but they aint choirboys either. What is anybody doing about the gangs and drugs? Because it is killing black people so you don't care. They aint heroes they are lucky rich white boys.

Anonymous said...

12:09, you are right. They are not patron saints but have been treated as such for so long now they are beginning to believe it themselves. While I fully support the innocence of these young men in the Duke lacrosse frame, we tend to genuflect every time their names are mentioned. It's getting a little sick, don't you think? Like telling your girlfriend on the last night of summer vacation that you love her, want to spend the rest of your life with her and then the next night pick up some babe at a lacrosse tournament. It really just doesn't fit the sainthood paradigm does it? The boys were treated crually in Durham and they deserve to be compensated for such, but please spare us the sainthood spill.

12:09 & 12:27

I feel very sorry for people who have what you've displayed in your hearts and minds.

A joyous season to all the rest. I give thanks for all we have and find virtue is its own reward.

Anonymous said...

I disagree with what the jerks just said. The Duke boys are American heroes, and their story is now forever enshrined in the American mythos.

Those who go out of their way to deny this are also always the first ones to jump up and claim victim and sainthood for liars like Crystal Mangum.

Anonymous said...

Myth: a widely held but false notion.

Before you start the name calling babbling fool, reread the post. No one is suggesting that the accused players were not the real victims here. The post was aimed at the ridiculous genuflecting that goes on when the name Seligmann is mentioned. Get a life folks. There are other real victims in the world that few who post here seem to care about. Building a shrine to Reade, Collin or Dave is a bit much and frankly should be an embarrassment to them.

Anonymous said...

They either had to put up or shut up. All of this attention to this case is disgusting. What about Gell, and the crooked cops? All these guys did was try and save their own asses, and don't make them heroes in my book. have they said or done anything to thank all the people who helped them? They had alot to say in the beginning, so what are they doing to make stuff better? I think peope should get off there high horses and accept responsability. They fucked up to and was just lucky they had money to fight, how many more people have been wronged and are in jail? ALOT, so why don't you do something for them? Durham is a toilet, the whole thing makes me sick

Anonymous said...

"...enshrined in the American mythos" . . .

yeah, right up there with Paul Revere, George Washington, Abe Lincoln, etc.

Have you petitioned congress yet to declare a national holiday so you shrine worshipers can have a day off from work?

Anonymous said...

Why do you object to supporting the true victims of this case? Because you're a liar who wants to enable more false accusations; you just don't have the guts to admit it.

Good luck with the penis envy.

Anonymous said...

12:27 --

"While I fully resent the innocence of these young men in the Duke lacrosse frame,"

Fixed your typo for you.

Anonymous said...

11:16 - when all other arguments fail use the "penis envy" routine.

You must be occupying the same classroom at NCCU as the false accuser, you remember her? You know the low life that hasn't met a penis she didn't like. Keep your facts straight if it possible pea brain. I am well aware of who the victims in the lacrosse case were. I have not chosen to make a golden image of them as some on this site have so chosen. It is possible to support truth and justice without looking like a mind numb robot.

Anonymous said...

A mind-numb robot? You mean like the feminists who called for castration, without a shred of evidence to support the allegations against these victims? Like the New York Times, like Nancy Grace, like the Group of 88 who exploited this case in an effort to push their socialist agenda?

You need to ask yourself where your heart is, because you obviously don't appreciate the gravity of the crime committed here. You say, "There are other victims; focus on them." But that's not at all true.

In any other crime, the victims are honored and protected, while the perpetrators go to prison.

Seen Mangum and Nifong behind bars lately?

Anonymous said...

12:55, I fully support the innocence of the lacrosse players.

I don't support elevating them to sainthood nor this ridiculous adulation every time their names are mentioned. That should be an easy concept if you graduated from high school. If you're a drop out -maybe not.

Interesting comments by some posters. It was a Christmas message of goodwill. It is sad that some want to turn it into something else when posters express their admiration. The Seligmanns are a good family and the courage of Reade is only surpassed by his kindness & care for all people.

Merry Christmas

Baldo

Was it Merry for all of the people not so fortunate to afford high end legal fees? These guys are not choirboys. They paid all that money for hookers, and got in trouble, why make them martyrs? How about the cops and judges who get paid off every day to fix cases? You people are a bunch of asses to spend so much time on these shits, they may not have raped her, but I bet they were willing for something to happen, which did Ha! The media fed on it like sharks to blood. If you want to do something, election time is here. But from what we have all seen, it looks like nothing has changed, and it probably wont. Save your praise and sucking up, it is overtly obnoxious to many people still waiting for justice Ha again, there is no such word in the bull city, just more bullshit.

Anonymous said...

6;10 I agree with every word, it is absurd and a sad excuse to make heroes out of rich punks who got caught with their pants down, then reached in to daddys wallet to get out of it

Anonymous said...

Looking at some of the posts I think we know who the blog hoodlums are. Many of the posters just don't get it.

Anonymous said...

7 am Chris Grieb,

Polanski is present. I do get it.

The stench is evident.

Anonymous said...

The stench you smell is your own excrement. To hell with these punk ass bastards, they are lucky they wasn't charged with alcohol or pandering. I feel no sorrow for them, or their hoi palloy families.
I feel sorry for the people who couldn't afford real lawyers and in jail for crimes they didn't do.
The cops and judges are just as wicked. Do you give a fuck about them?

Anonymous said...

"They paid all that money for hookers, and got in trouble"

No, they paid all that money to hire strippers. The difference is not insignificant, since it is legal to hire strippers and not legal to hire hookers.

I do agree with whoever suggested that this is probably just Polanski trolling again. Even the Gang of 88 realizes by now that the three accused players didn't "get out of it" because they "reached in to daddys wallet" but because the charges were never true in the first place.

Anonymous said...

Socialism and false allegations do go together well, don't they? "Those guys are worse than rapists-- they're rich!" Well guess what, bum: YOU TOO CAN BE VICTIMIZED BY A FALSE ALLEGATION OF RAPE, AND LOSE. If these "rich punks" can't get justice-- and obviously they can't, with Nifong and Mangum walking around free-- what hope in hell would you have? None.

Get over your phony class/racial victimization and support these boys, because that's the only way to support poor men who find themselves in the same situation.

Anonymous said...

yeah right, see you on visitor day

Anonymous said...

Wow. Talk about confused sore losers.

I see some people have kept their hackles up in the face of innocense. If you look at the photos, you will see Reade with a look like he just stomped on a three week old fish. The reason is simple - The strippers disgusted him. The man has taste.

Nice kid in any event, as is Dave, totally innocent of wrongdoing. May the Seligmann's have a great New Year, and I hope to see Reade at at the "Roast" on the Severn in the future (his family is invited as well).

Until then, I remain, very truly yours

5:06: (Fong?) I'm pretty sure your precious Crystal Mangum will wind up in prison, so save "visitors day" for her. Until then, good luck with the class warfare, bum.

PS- These boys and their families already pay more taxes than you. They don't owe you.

Anonymous said...

fong aint paying taxpayers are

Anonymous said...

fong will also be getting his law license back too happy new yr

Anonymous said...

No doubt. He'll be handed his life and career back, having served less time than he could have gotten for spitting on the sidewalk.

Anonymous said...

And back to serving the public he loves so very much. And by the way things have been going, wouldn't surprise me if he ran for Governor and won, you stupid lot voted for him all along. You have nobody to blame but yourselves. Lay with dogs and you get fleas.

Anonymous said...

Anne Coulter wrote "lay down with strippers and get up with pleas." Which is exactly what happened. I think Reade and Colin were taken advantage of by the Captains who put the deal together. Evans never did get his due reward for being so dumb as to bring strippers to his home. What a dope/

Anonymous said...

I wonder just how many cops and others are in the KKK? Why don't you armchair sleuths do some research of their properties, then ask how they could afford them? Drug money? Prostitution profits?
Illegal immigrants? Murder for hire? It is all there, you just need to uncover it, it is all here right under your noses.

Anonymous said...

They are too afraid, and nobody wants to be a snitch

Anonymous said...

But the truth will eventually be exposed for all the world to see just how corrupt Durhams leaders and cops are! So much for the SBI and FBI "investigations?"

Anonymous said...

There is so much more to come out of Durham than the LAX case. The entire legal system is broken, the cops are thugs and worse than you can imagine. Countless elected officials from the Governor, down to the City Manager, to the County Clerk are involved. Many fingers have dipped into Durham's cookie jar, and the truth will be extremely explosive to many who have turned their backs on citizens, justice, and any code of ethics or valor. Embrace yourselves for an extreme shock. A tidal wave of truth will boggle your mind, the corruption SHALL be exposed!

Anonymous said...

Evans never did get his due reward for being so dumb as to bring strippers to his home.

That's not a crime, asshole.

Anonymous said...

No, he is a hero because he did not rape a skank hooker

Anonymous said...

No, he's a hero because he confronted lying, socialist pussbags like you, who frankly deserve to be framed and raped in supermax on a nightly basis.

Anonymous said...

what choice did the little bastards have? let mommy and daddy fight for them or go to jail, put there statue in your yard pal

Anonymous said...

As usual, the moron has to make sure he gets the last word.

Strangely not surprising that the trolls pick the goddamned Christmas thread for their breeding ground. Anything stinking of warmth and good feeling simply must be ruined with their bullshit.
