We give thanks for Sgt. James J. Regan and his Family

WEST POINT — Members of the Army lacrosse team and the Division of Military Instruction recently joined in the 2nd Annual Sgt. James J. Regan Memorial Run in New York City.

Regan, 26, of Manhasset, was a lacrosse player at Duke University who joined the Army Rangers after graduation. He served two tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He died Feb. 9, 2007, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol vehicle in Iraq.

Proceeds from the run benefit the “Lead the Way” fund, a nonprofit, launched in Regan’s honor, to support the spouses and children of deceased, disabled or active duty Army Rangers. Times Herald-Record
