Duke civil lawsuit defendants ask for an extension

WRAL TV is reporting on their web site that the attorneys for the defendants in the civil lawsuit have asked for another extension in filing a response. They have already been issued one extension in the case which was filed in October.

The joint motion, agreed by all parties, asks to allow until Jan. 15 for defense filings and then 90 days afterward for the plaintiffs to respond to defense filings. Several of the defendants are expected to file motions to dismiss the suit. WRAL-TV

Could this be a mutually agreed upon stall to allow more time for an ongoing "settlement" negotiation?

JUST SAY NO!!!!!

The longer some of these criminals go unpunished, the less liklihood they will get justice.

Get it ON!!!

From experience with working in a law firm, my own estimate of the length of time this would take from original filing date of the lawsuit until actual trial was a minimum of a year and a half. So far as I can see, this latest extension appears to prove my estimate.

Another assumption I've also made is that Durham and the DPD are too arrogant and too stupid to settle. It will go to trial.

The plaintiffs are in no danger, only the defendants so I don't care how long it takes. The longer the better actually. It's tramatic to be the defendant in a lawsuit when you haven't done anything wrong, and these defendants probably did even more than we know (so far).

I hope that Durham is too arrogant and stupid to settle. I want them to go to court. BTW, I think it will be five years before this case is completed - unless Durhan settles.
