Duke needs a new seal!

The Blue Report
Trustee vice chair Dan Blue, who chaired the presidential review, told the trustees his committee had interviewed some 120 people and directly solicited comments from members of the university community and others with knowledge of the president’s leadership. Overall, the committee heard from more than 500 people, including some with no relationship to Duke.

Blue said the “review committee’s report affirmed Brodhead’s leadership, after considering his goals and vision for the university, his effectiveness in advancing its interests, the exciting challenges and opportunities facing Duke, and the wide range of comments and opinions we heard.” Referring to the Duke lacrosse case, he said, “The committee heard from people who were disappointed with Duke’s handling of the case and others who felt strongly that President Brodhead had managed a uniquely difficult situation with maturity. Those who communicated with the committee can be confident the spectrum of views was heard, considered and reported to the trustees and to President Brodhead. The review committee has now completed its work.” Duke News

The Blue committee has apparently joined forces with the "MoveOn" crowd. It is clear that the Duke Board of Trustees do not want to investigate Brodhead, his Administration, and the Duke Faculty in their shameful conduct.

The Seal of Duke University proclaims Eruditio et Religioit. Apparently the motto comes from an old Methodist hymn "Sanctified Knowledge" by Charles Wesley, who was the brother of the founder of Methodism. The hymn, lamented the division of the ideals of religion and education and hoped for a future where knowledge and the goals of religion would be united.

Duke University needs a new seal!

No. Duke needs to return to its heritage. The imposters and liars and pagans need to be sent packing.

Only courageous Alumni, Students, and Parents can make it happen.

Send the castrators packing, too.

I agree about the impostors, liars and castraters. But Duke needs more pagans, not less. Many of the 88s best accomplices are ecclesiastical.

the only shameful behavior at Duke was done by the lacrosse team. Brodhead is honoarable and I am glad the BOT affirmed he will remain the leader here.

Mrs. Brodhead,

If Dyk were so "honoarable", what did he have to apologize for. Apparently, he disagrees with you.

Get your head out of the sand. Brodhead behaved cowardly, submitting cravenly to the demands of Duke's extremist faculty and other members of the mob. He deservedly should apologize for his shameful behavior.

A word for Brodhead and the 88

"Knowledge puffeth up;
not true knowledge; not that which comes from above, which is gentle and easy to be entreated; not sanctified knowledge, or that which has the grace of God going along with it; that makes men humble, and will not suffer them to be puffed up one against another; but a.... MERE SHOW of knowledge, knowledge in conceit, mere notional and SPECULATIVE knowledge, that which is DESTITUTE of charity or love."

GREAT retort... also to our friend the "pagan".

Reminds me of one of my favorite, and most sobering Biblical quotes:

"In the last days there will come those who say "Lord, Lord have we not cast out demons, and healed the sick ( etc. etc. etc.) in your name?"

And He will reply to them "Depart from me you workers of iniquity, I never KNEW you!".

With apologies for my liberties at the quotation, I humbly offer to the "Pagan" that many people of faith are the first to admit and grieve that there are many hypocrites among us. Our challenge is to not become one of them. Way too many hide their awful duplicities behind the skirts of God. But we are admonished to recognize that "BY THEIR FRUITS YOU SHALL KNOW THEM".

And the Bible-toting, platitude passing wicked people who framed the LAX 3 are among those who are fakes. Starting with Jessee Jackson.

The presence of a counterfeit is proof of a "real". Just don't confuse the two.

"President Brodhead had managed a uniquely difficult situation with maturity..."

Well, damn! That's the FIRST time in my life I ever heard 'maturity' used to describe crawling under your desk instead of meeting with frightened parents of the kids you threw to the racist, PC dogs.

And the horror is that there is was nothing 'unique' about what Brodhead did. As this case has made profoundly clear, nearly all of the major universities are displaying the same craven, gutless, PC cowardice in the face of their own Gangs.

God, I was hoping for so much better.

Why is Brodhead always depicted as covering up his vagina in your cartoons?

Is there a deeper comedic meaning?

Jesse Jackson is indeed a fake, and a subsidizer of false allegations.

I fought the good fight (under the "wumhenry" nom de plume) against the resident Nifong enablers in the TalkLeft forum from May 2006 until they withdrew to the Bat Cave, a few months ago, and I read the KC Johnson-Stuart Taylor book from cover to cover. IMO, much of the flak that has been tossed at Brodhead here, in the book, and in KC's blog is ill-considered. It was not within the purview of Brodhead's job as president of Duke University to be an advocate or PR agent for students who are under indictment. For reasons that are cogently stated in the book, he needs to avoid unnecessarily antagonizing bellwethers of opinion in Durham's black community. It would have been highly imprudent for him to have publicly opined that the Duke3 were innocent or publicly disparaged the police or prosecutor's handling of the case at the time when the lax parents sought an interview with him, back in the late spring of '06. That would have soured town-gown relations and earned Brodhead a reputation as an injudicious partisan. When he finally did speak out, in December 2006, his words carried more weight thanks to his earlier reticence.

There is so much more to come out of Durham than the LAX case. The entire legal system is broken, the cops are thugs and worse than you can imagine. Countless elected officials from the Governor, down to the City Manager, to the County Clerk are involved. Many fingers have dipped into Durham's cookie jar, and the truth will be extremely explosive to many who have turned their backs on citizens, justice, and any code of ethics or valor. Embrace yourselves for an extreme shock. A tidal wave of truth will boggle your mind, the corruption SHALL be exposed!
