The Buzz spread quickly around Durham when the locals heard about the reality based show that will soon start shooting in Duke Forest. Survivor Durham is based on the three civil complaints and the stars of the show will be the multiple defendants from the City of Durham and Duke University. LieStoppers described the premise. “We envision it as Survivor meets the Three Stooges.”
The teams have been chosen and they are in preparation for their roles. Each tribe will choose their own names. Team Duke has been meeting for weeks trying to choose a name that has no race, class, or gender implications. So far they have rejected names that imply a color, has European origins, or discriminates against farm animals. Inside sources believe VP Moneta has been lobbying hard for “the sex art workers” which he argued was really educational. Team Durham on the other hand quickly decided on the Dimwit Tribe in an apparent move to plea insanity in their handling of the Duke Lacrosse Hoax/Frame.
Each week the tribes will have a series of contests and challenges. Co-Producer Baldo said he has some surprises and shared this with us. Immunity will be given each week to the contestant who turns in another contestant. “No doubt the highlight of each week will be the Truth or Dare segment where one of the Plaintiff's attorneys will have the opportunity to question the tribes. Contestants will point to others as the reason they tried to frame three innocent Duke players and castigated the whole Lacrosse Team!” said Baldo. “Extra points will be given for perjury accusations!”
When asked about the disgraced, disbarred, and former DA, LieStoppers said he would not appear much to the disappointment & consternation of the other contestants. Apparently he has another engagement which conflicts with his appearance and disqualifies him. However efforts are underway urging him to join the Dimwit Tribe.
Each Tribe will have their own duff which they will wear during the various trials & tribulations. NY Times reporter Duff Wilson took objection and said he was only reporting what Nifong had given him and how was he suppose to know people actually read his posts.
According to inside sources the first episode will feature the two tribes being dropped off at midnight near Durham’s Brentwood Apartments. They will have to exhibit team work and ingenuity to make their way to Duke Forest where the first duty with be to stake out their encampment. “Hopefully we won’t lose too many!” They have a couple of Durham’s escort services lined up who promised to give the contestants a free ride in exchange for a few favors.
Controversy has already started as the first member of Dimwit was kicked off the team with charges he wasn’t completely honest in his personal profile. Mr. Obfuscation said it was clear to him that this producer was over reacting when he was caught fibbing. He had these comments to our reporter, “I was completely honest and told them everything privately… I really did!”
LieStoppers did admit they did have a slight legal challenge to the show but they were forging ahead. Attorneys for Team Duke were concerned about the transfer of information between the teams and wanted to put up a firewall to protect the teams from themselves. Co-producer Baldo remarked "That was tried in the 90's to disastrous results and viewers are too smart now to buy that!"
At the end of each show a tribal council will be held where the person who incriminated the most contestants will be voted out of Duke Forest. So far local bookies have failed to reach a consensus but one had this anonymous comment, “How can you chose one? They are all excellent choices to rat out each other!”
