Update! We are still working on it

Right now the LS Forum is in the hands of imposters. We have contacted the Owner of the Board Service. Feel free to complain. They need to be held responsible.

Denial-of-service attack
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) or distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted, malevolent efforts of a person or persons to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely.

Perpetrators of DoS attacks typically target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, and even DNS root servers.

One common method of attack involves saturating the target (victim) machine with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by:

forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consume its resources so that it can no longer provide its intended service; or,
obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately.
Denial-of-service attacks are considered violations of the IAB's Internet proper use policy. They also commonly constitute violations of the laws of individual nations.[1]

Here is an April 2006 discussion of someone wanting to hack an invisionfree board.

Looks like invisionfree was hacked back in March. I saw a number of people with boards that were affected when I googled.

Scary to even post this let alone file a complaint. Sad it's come to this, hope you spank the hacks with a lax sticks, and bring this forum back to topic. What losers for hacking, I say wedgies for all.

I'm a wahoo '81 and saw the game, lots of Dukies there. Had to cheer for my home team, but pulling for Duke also (ACC all the way), and an awesome game it was.

These hacks need to get out of their caves once in awhile, enjoy life, get a life, go to a game, or move to Torra Bora.

Baldo, could you do with some financial help to go after the person(s)who did this to LS? I think this might be a practical contribution and I'd like to help.

I am having some difficulty understanding why there is so little communication about the LS board not working.

If the board is hacked, that is fairly simple to explain to include the plan for correcting the problem.

If the board has been shut down by court order, that would be an entirely different kettle of fish which could also be explained.

Why the silence?

Baldo, I've sent off an email to Invision. I'll let you (and everyone else) know if I get a response. Until then, I'm crossing my fingers for the Board to be up and running by tomorrow.

But even if it isn't, I'M not giving up the fight!

I hope the imposters notice how comments have picked up here, at JinC, Free Republic, etc. The things is, we're still here and we are not going away, no matter what. Some of us just might become more committed.

I'm sure a lot of folks didn't realize it was an attack and entered their name and password to try and log in. We will all just have to register again with new passwords to be safe.

These games just show the desperation, imo.

When they start attacking you like that, it means you are on the right trail.
